The Green Man of Celtic and English mythology is traditionally associated with Beltaine and the coming of Spring. However, he is a dying god, and as we near Lammas and Mabon, we recognize him as the god of the harvest, the god that must be cut down so that we can eat, the god that must die so that we can live, with the promise that he will be reborn again at Yule.
